Help on What's New

Purpose

We created this part of our web site in response to the huge number of users who keeps asking for more news from Forté. Why don't you email us more often, they ask. OK, we will. But email is intrusive. Isn't that one of the reason we like Usenet so much? So, we tried to design a notification mechanism that wasn't annoying.

What it Does

When you run Agent's menu option, Help | What's New, a web page appears that shows you what is new in the Agent Community. For example, the What's New page checks your version of Agent to see if you should upgrade.

There is no sleight of hand. Agent simply passes your software version information to our web server at this URL:

http://www.forteinc.com/whatsnew

With a quote string similar to this:

version=1.92&build=572&bit=32&mode=Agent&language=enu&distributor=Forte

We do not save any of the data passed to our What's New page. If you have concerns:

What's New also shows you any News, Surveys, User Profiles, FAQs, and Partners that we've added since the last time you visited.

How it Works

Our web server stashes a cookie on your computer with the date and time you last visited the What's New page. We use this cookie the next time you visit to filter out the old data.

Making it Happen

Our goal is to add new content every month. We're also asking the Agent Community to participate. We hope you will vist this page frequently.
